+A simple version of a popular Finnish oven bake.
+

+- 🍳 Cook time: 1 h 30 min

+
+## Ingredients
+
+- ~ 1 kg (~2.2lb) of potatoes
+- ~ 300g (~0.7 lb) of smoked ham
+- 1 onion chopped
+- ~ 200g (~0.5 lb) grated cheddar
+- 2 dl (~1 cup) cream
+- cayenne pepper (optional)
+- thyme (optional)
+
+## Directions
+
+1. Saute the chopped onion on a medium hot pan in a bit of butter or oil, until it's mildly translucent. 
+2. Wash and slice the potatoes into thin less than 1 cm slices.
+3. Cut the ham into strips.
+4. Place the potatoes into a large oven dish and place the ham on top of the potatoes.
+5. Pour the cream evenly into the dish.
+6. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste. Additionally, you can add a bit of cayenne pepper powder and thyme to give the dish a bit of spiciness.
+7. Spread the grated cheddar evenly on top of the other ingredients.
+8. Bake in the oven in 200C (400F) for 1h 3omin. Cover with aluminum foil once the cheese has got a bit of colour.
