# Cold Brew Coffee
Delicious, high-caffeine, cold drink. Great way to make use of old or
cheap beans. Many like it better than iced hot-brewed coffee.
![Cold Brew](pix/cold-brew.webp)
## Ingredients
Means to filter the coffee, like a french press or a plastic cone with paper filters.
- Some cups of dark roast coffee grounds, medium to large coarseness
- Water, 2-10x as much as the coffee
- flat or whipped heavy cream
Too finely ground beans will make it taste bitter.
## Directions
1. Measure coffee out into a bowl with a cup.
2. Measure water out with that cup. 1:2 to 1:10 coffee:water ratios are acceptable.
3. Mix cofee and water gently with a spoon.
4. Leave out for 12-20 hours. Leaving it out too long will make it taste bitter.
5. Stir it after the first few hours (optional)
6. Filter the beans and refrigerate
7. Try it. If it is too concentrated, like syrup, add water.
8. Drink it cold.
9. Add whipped or flat cream if you want. Don't add sugar, it should be sweet enough.

# French Press Coffee
Coffee using a simple brewing method and metal filter.
![French Press](pix/french-press.webp)
## Ingredients
- Coarse ground coffee beans (so they don't go through the metal filter)
- Water
- French Press
- 3-5 tbsp coffee grounds per 10oz water
## Directions
1. Boil water.
2. (optional) Pour water into the french press to warm it up for even
brewing. Dump it out. Improves flavour.
3. (optional) Boil more water.
4. (optional) Let boiled water sit for 60 seconds so it is at about 90
degrees Celsius. Improves flavour.
5. Put beans in the press. 3-5 tbsp (18-30g) of coffee per 10oz water.
6. Pour in water.
7. Push down filter, then pull it up so it rests just below the water line.
8. 4 minute timer.
9. Push down the filter with a firm and gradual pressure until it is slightly above the bottom.
10. Put extra hot coffee in a thermos or carafe for refills.
11. Enjoy hot coffee. Don't drink the grounds at the bottom of your cup or carafe.

# Fat Coffee
Great way to have a filling and cheap meal with whatever fat is in
your kitchen.
![Fat Coffee](pix/fat-coffee.webp)
## Ingredients
- Strong coffee
- heavy cream (optional)
- butter (optional)
- MCT Oil (very optional)
## Directions
1. Whip heavy cream in a bowl with a whisk so it is whipped cream.
2. Melt butter in a pot.
3. If you have a blender, put fats and coffee in it and mix.
4. If you don't have a blender, pour in other fats and coffee
into the hot pot and stir vigorously.
4. Pour into a cup with whipped cream on top.
5. Drink immediately before the ingredients separate.
Do not add sugar. This is a full meal, consume it by itself.

# Pour Over Coffee
Quick and simple way to produce filtered coffee without a coffee
machine. Tastes good, I like it better than from a drip machine. Great
for backpacking, very lightweight.
![Pour Over](pix/pour-over.webp)
- Coffee cone
- Paper filter
- Pot or kettle
- medium coarseness ground coffee beans
## Ingredients
- ~3 tbsp coffee grounds
- 10oz water
## Directions
1. Put filter in the cone, on top of a cup.
2. Put beans in filter. Do not skimp.
3. Boil water.
4. Slowly pour in the water in a small, smooth stream. Evenly wet the beans.
5. Keep filling to the brim, and maintain the water level there until there is no more.
6. Let it drain.
6. Put extra hot coffee in a thermos or carafe for refills.
Some people put the beans directly in the boiling water. Don't do this,
it will taste weak, burnt, and flat. However, if using a metal sieve
this is the only way to brew it.
