# Menemen
|
||||
Menemen is a Turkish dish made with eggs, peppers, tomatoes and optionally onions. It was first made by the Cretan Turks who came to the Menemen district of Izmir with the population exchange and takes its name from the district.
|

## Ingredients
|
||||
|
||||
- 2 tablespoons of oil
|
||||
- 3 green peppers (finely chopped after removing stems and seeds)
|
||||
- 3 medium tomatoes
|
||||
- 1/2 (half) teaspoon of salt
|
||||
- 3 eggs
|
||||
|
||||
|
||||
## Directions
|
||||
|
||||
- Put the oil and peppers in the pan and fry them until the color of the peppers turns.
|
||||
- Add the peeled and finely chopped tomatoes.
|
||||
- Close the lid of the pan on low heat and wait for the tomatoes to cook well.
|
||||
- If the tomatoes are sticking to the pan, you can add a little boiling water. Usually this will not be necessary.
|
||||
- After the tomatoes are cooked, add the eggs by whisking them in a separate bowl or break them directly.
|
||||
- Add salt and any spices you want and wait until the eggs are cooked.
|
||||
- After the eggs are cooked, leave them on low heat for 30-50 seconds.
